Bill Sieczkowski, Jr. - President

 
Bill has more than 30 years of experience in construction and engineering. He became President of R. Carlson and Sons in 2008 after acting as Vice President of General Contracting. Before entering the engineering profession in 1989, he graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Geotechnical Engineering. His technical background paired with his pursuit of innovation has allowed for significant company transformation and development. He continually strives to enhance company success with a focus on diversifying relations with existing and potential customers.

Bill is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company, including safety, financial interests, client development, and employee welfare. As a Professional Engineer in both Illinois and Indiana, he manages all design and value engineering efforts and adds instant credibility to every project. His deep commitment for safety has resulted in the redevelopment of company safety standards, policies, and training. With his LEED AP credential, Bill is the driving force behind the company’s growing sustainability and green initiative. His ability to mentor his employees is second to none and, as a passionate business owner, he works tirelessly to ensure that every client’s expectations are exceeded, each and every day.

Brenda Smith - Vice President

 
Since Brenda began with R. Carlson and Sons in 1988, she has completed over 750 projects. As the Vice President since 2004, she has grown the excavation business unit, while modernizing company accounting. Brenda is responsible for overseeing every excavation project, from estimating through financial job analysis. Her strategic decisions have allowed for significant advancements in office technology and account for all heavy equipment purchases. Brenda has a Bachelor’s of Science in Marketing from Elmhurst College. Brenda serves as Office Manager and makes all decisions for employee benefits and insurance.

Brenda believes that strong client relationships are the key to successful projects. She works to develop customer relations in new markets, find new business opportunities, and diversify the company portfolio. Her expertise in finding the optimal solution for every challenge and the ideal personnel for each specific project provides a great value to clients. As a third-generation owner, family legacy has always been a driving force in Brenda’s passion for quality service.
